Director of IT Security ?– Atlanta, GA

Hybrid 3 days/week, Full time M-F 8am-5pm PST or EST

FairSquare is continuing to grow its IT Engineering Department and has an exciting opportunity for a Director of IT Security. Reporting directly to the CISO, the Director of IT Security, is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive security strategy that protects the Company’s critical financial technology infrastructure and sensitive customer data. In this role, you will oversee a team, ensuring that the company’s digital assets and information are safeguarded against evolving cyber threats.

Responsibilities

  • Working alongside the CISO, will execute security strategies that align with the company’s overall business objectives and regulatory requirements within the financial services industry.
  • Identify and assess potential security risks, vulnerabilities, and weaknesses within the company’s technology infrastructure. Implement appropriate risk mitigation measures to protect against cyber threats.
  • Lead the response to security breaches and incidents, including coordination of internal and external resources. Develop and oversee disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimize downtime in the event of a cyberattack or data breach.
  • Ensure the company complies with relevant financial industry regulations and cybersecurity standards.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of secure IT infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), encryption technologies, and secure network configurations.
  • Develop and implement ongoing employee security awareness training programs, ensuring that staff members at all levels understand their roles in maintaining information security.
  • Work closely with other departments (e.g., legal, compliance, IT) to ensure security measures are integrated into business operations. Act as a liaison between senior leadership, third-party vendors, and stakeholders regarding IT security matters.
  • Evaluate and manage third-party vendors to ensure that security policies and procedures are adhered to within external partnerships, including conducting regular security assessments.
  • Lead and mentor a team of security professionals, promoting continuous learning and development. Ensure that team members are up-to-date on the latest security trends and technologies.
  • Regularly report to executive leadership on the status of security initiatives, ongoing risks, incident response activities, and the overall security posture of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years experience within IT security with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proven experience within the finance, fintech or banking sectors highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex situations, identify vulnerabilities, and implement effective solutions.
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor), or similar certifications are preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and frameworks (e.g., PCI DSS, SOC 2, GDPR, NIST, ISO 27001) and how they relate to IT security practices.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of security protocols, tools and technologies
