Job Description
Legal Affairs Department is responsible to ensure that all legal activities of Gulf Air Group Holding B.S.C.(c) (GFG) and its direct and indirect subsidiaries (the “Group”) are carried out in accordance with all related local and international rules and regulations; in a manner consistent with its status as one of the key elements of the aviation industry in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and that its relationships with governments, organizational and individuals are on a sound legal basis.
MAIN DUTIES
Provide Legal Support To Various Departments, Within The Group, On All Legal Issues And Recommend The Appropriate Legal Response Or Action, Which Best Serves To Protect The Interest Of The Group Under The Guidance And Supervision Of The Line Manager. This Includes But Not Limited To
- Draft, review various legal contracts and any legal documents.
- Negotiate contracts either independently or under the supervisions of the line manager and/or other senior lawyers in the Legal department.
- Ensure that all legal contracts and documents are in compliance with applicable local laws and regulations and eliminate any risk that may arise.
- Advice management and departments within the Group on legal matters as they arise including but not limited to commercial law, civil aviation law, employment law, regulatory matters and litigation.
- Instruct, and review advice received from external law firms and facilitate implementation of such advice within the Group.
- Manage litigation of Group companies internally and with external counsel across various jurisdiction while ensuring all stakeholders are involved in its key aspects.
- Review, monitor and advise on data protection aspects of the Group companies.
- Prepare letters and legal documents for submission by the Group to other parties.
- Conduct legal research and analysis of legal problems and issues.
- Research relevant statutes, rulings and precedents.
- Conducts research, identifies issues and establishes resolutions to meet regulatory compliance and matters requiring immediate resolutions
- Maintain confidentiality of all related information.
- Assist in corporate secretarial matters for Group companies.
- Corporate governance: knowledgeable in the provisions of the Corporate Governance Code (“Code”), ensure annual filings are reported diligently to the regulatory authorities, prepare corporate governance reports, AGM and EGM related documents and any required document for the Group in compliance with the Code, and assist in all corporate governance matters.
- Delivery of assigned tasks in an accurate and timely manner and willingness to assist in various tasks.
- Maintaining database and coordinating the flow of information (external and internal) to the department.
- Processing of the department’s invoices and other miscellaneous payments with third parties.
- Keep current on legal developments.
- Providing administrative support as required.
Education & Experience
- Qualified lawyer with a Bachelor degree in Law.
- Minimum of two (2) years post qualification experience of legal work.
- Fluent in written and verbal Arabic and English.
- High organizational skills and is able to multitask.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
- Good working understanding of local rules and regulations.
- Ability to deal with complex legal issues, flexibility in approach solving problems and show initiative. Heavy workload with restricted timelines.
- Ability to provide effective legal support in more two or more official languages of the Organization will be a consideration.
