Job Description

  • Plan, prioritize, assign and supervise staff responsible for performing chemical and physical tests/analysis of raw material and finished product to determine the efficiency of product performance within the laboratory.
  • Assist in analysis of incoming raw material and finish products, ensuring they conform to set specifications.
  • Record and capture results in QDocs. Activate WMS once approved
  • Raise non-conformances in the case of raw material or finish product failures.
  • Analysis of Expired stock for expiry extensions
  • Ensure all laboratory reagents/chemicals are registered and monitored for expiry. Procure necessary replacement stock as required.
  • Training of staff, and ensuring they are competent to perform tasks. To keep the competency records up to date.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is serviced, maintained and calibrated at the prescribed frequencies, and relevant records kept.
  • Ensure that all documented methods/work instructions/forms are reviewed and up to date at all times.
  • Ensure that effluent is treated and only discharged when conforming to municipality specifications, and send discharged volumes to the municipality on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure accurate records of work done are kept in the laboratory note books.
  • Keep records of monthly quality indicator monitoring, and report to the site Quality manager.
  • Keep records of all laboratory expenditure
  • Undertake and close off any QC Non-conformance investigations and actions.
  • Assist in customer complaint investigations.
  • Adhere to Company quality, safety, health and environmental standards, and apply these procedures in the laboratory
  • Maintain good housekeeping in the laboratory
  • Recycle retention samples into production.
