Position Title: Procurement Specialist

Scope Of Responsibility:

  • Build vendor relationships and negotiate competitive pricing to secure best prices on products and services.
  • Creates and manage contracts agreements with vendors to ensure that obligations are met and the process for tracking renewals of existing agreements.
  • Assist with documentation organization and collection of all ingredient specification sheets, nutritional statements and other items as needed
  • Maintain records of purchase requisition approvals, contracts, pricing, renewal date, and other important procurement data
  • Suggests new supply sources to diversify risk and maintain competitive costs
  • Research market conditions to understand supply/demand factors and make buying decisions
  • Manages inventory levels and places replenishment orders according to production/demand planning needs
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure inventory levels are maintained and drive cost saving initiatives
  • Prepares and sends purchase orders by verifying specifications and pricing
  • Ensures on time and accurate delivery of materials
  • Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves discrepancies with receiving department and suppliers as needed
  • Follow-up on product shorts and quality issues as necessary
  • Maintain up to date price list for food costing
  • Provides cost analysis information as needed by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
  • Maintain excellent communications with internal stakeholders and external partners.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Minimum of 5 years of procurement experience in food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes and practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple transactions from initiation to completion.
  • Collaboration skills including internal customer service skills
  • Advanced systems skills and working knowledge of MS Office, with advanced Excel knowledge
  • Analytical / critical thinker
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Collaborative, team player
  • Results focused individual with strong initiative
  • Adaptability to changing priorities
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment balancing multiple tasks/ projects
  • Inventory planning, vendor, & co-manufacturer management a plus
