The role
The ideal candidates are energetic and pro-active Construction Workers / Labourers who have a can-do attitude and a keen interest in the construction industry. We are looking for staff that have a great attitude and work ethic with a desire to work as part of a close team plus the motivation and willingness to assist others.
Previous experience as a construction worker/labourer will be highly regarded.
Key tasks include but not limited to
- Undertake allocated day labour tasks ranging from setting up site establishment’s, working through to deliver the construction and fitout phase of the build through to demobilizing the site establishment and handing a quality project over to the client
- Digging footings/trenches/holes by hand and or assisted with power tools and machinery
- Erecting and maintaining perimeter site fences – safety mesh, fence panels, gates, access points etc.
- Erecting and maintaining various types of safety barriers such as; Star picket parrawebbing, night line indicators, rope flags, water barriers, fortress fencing, handrail systems and hoardings.
- Using and maintaining mechanically operated power, petrol, gas driven and pneumatic tools and equipment such as generators, compressors, Jackhammers, drills, grinders, nail guns.
- Using explosive power tools.
- Using plant and equipment such as elevating work platform (scissor, boom lifts etc.).
- Basic formwork construction and assist with the placement of concrete using shovels, screeds, trowels, laser levels, and vibrating equipment etc
- Tying reinforcement
- Lifting and carrying equipment and materials (via site bins, wheel barrows, wheelie bins, hand).
- Using hand tools such as hammer, hand saws, trowels in the course of construction.
- General site cleaning using brooms, scrapers, shovels, vacuum’s etc.
- Maintaining site amenities.
- Maintaining company assets and general upkeep of the yard.
Current tickets and licences e.g. high risk, heights, EWP etc an advantage. Additional training for the required certificates, tickets and licences related to the role will be provided.
Remuneration is based on an Enterprise Agreement depending on experience classification level.
Must have
- Driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle.
- OHS General Induction Card (White Card) and ACT Approved Asbestos Awareness Certificate.
- Ability to obtain a security pass and/or clearance if required.
- Ability to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People card.
- Willingness to work across multiple Canberra building sites.
