POSITION: Engineering Manager STATUS: Full-Time, Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: The Engineering Manager will train, coach, and supervise employees working in the design engineering department and ensure all design engineering-related tasks are completed on time and within budget. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing project schedules, balancing the engineering design team’s workload, monitoring and coaching performance, and ensuring everything complies with safety, quality, and delivery standards. The Engineering Manager is expected to spend about 40% of their time leading the team and 60% of their time performing technical design, analysis, and testing work as an individual contributor.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Manage a team of mechanical and electrical design engineers to ensure that timely and high-quality work is completed on or ahead of schedule
  • Conduct or assist the Engineering Director with performance evaluations for members of the Design Engineering team
  • Manage disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Foster a collaborative team culture, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous learning
  • Collaborate and communicate with other departments and engineers to ensure compliance with JTS, customer, industry, government processes, codes, and safety regulations, while ensuring the projects meet customers’ needs
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and codes when designing and installing mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Design, analyze, and test mechanical and/or electrical equipment ensuring it meets industry standards and performance requirements
  • Conduct research to identify the latest trends, technologies, and techniques that could improve mechanical and/or electrical systems or equipment
  • Prepare technical drawings and specifications of mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Provide technical support to ensure proper installation and maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical systems
  • Investigate and troubleshoot customer concerns efficiently and professionally
  • Weigh the short- and long-term implications of alternate engineering solutions when making decisions
  • Understand the manufacturing and cost implications of designs
  • Work with clients and participate with other engineers in the development of project plans of moderate complexity
  • Identify issues, develop possible solutions, prepare accurate documentation, and facilitate resolution of issues identified during the build process
  • Document and provide technical information to other engineers, project team members, and management to provide status and/or support technical decisions

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 10+ years of Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering experience required
  • Previous experience in an engineering leadership role in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient knowledge in computer-aided design (CAD) software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred), engineering analysis software (CFD & FEA), programming languages, or other tools
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing industry, welding, metal forming, and electrical manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of safety and code regulations and requirements for building systems, electrical systems, and equipment
  • Familiar with the industry’s best practices, trends, and emerging technologies in the engineering field
  • Knowledge of jobsite safety and ability to always ensure a safe workplace
  • Professional Engineering license and applicable certifications preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record
