Job Description
Purpose: Act as1st point of call after the IT technician to support all stakeholders – teaching and support staff, students and visitors. Act as the Technical Lead on our 1:1 iPad deployment to students and teachers. Working with the IT Manager and Senior IT Technician to ensure the effective day-to-day running of the school’s IT systems.,
- Be the technical lead and support the schools 1:1 iPad scheme via Jamf School M.D.M.
- To provide advice and support on all aspects of the school’s IT resources, ensuring that there is adequate provision to meet the needs of the staff and students.
- Be responsible for all PCs and laptops, including their configuration and advising on upgrades where required.
- Respond to staff requests for support with use of hardware.
- Respond to hardware issues on PCs, Laptops and iPads.
- Work with the IT Manager to move, install and configure hardware inclusive of computers, servers, cabling, printers and other IT/AV equipment.
- Physical installation of networking infrastructure, AV equipment and CCTV.
- Promote the role of Safeguarding within the context of IT in schools, ensuring the IT systems provide a safe and secure experience for all users.
- Assist with multimedia filming and recording.
Software/Hardware
- Be responsible for maintaining and resolving issues with Windows 10/11 and Office 365 to ensure the school systems can be operated effectively.
- Manage the school’s Google Workspace tenant for the school’s needs.
- Install and configure software applications and updates on both networked and standalone PCs and laptops.
- Assist with the creation of new user accounts for students, staff and other users to the school network.
- Change user passwords as required.
- Monitor Internet usage, update interrogate web filtering / Impero when requested to and report back to relevant staff.
- Update the school website and external learning platforms.
- Check and download CCTV footage when requested by SLT/HoYs
- Operate Papercut system to run and monitor the school’s reprographics.
- Assist in the administration of access control via the school’s Paxston system.
Repair and Maintenance
- Be responsible for the upkeep of all PCs, Laptops and iPads, repairing where possible or replacing where required.
- Installation, Replacement or upgrade of classroom projectors and/or screens
- Liaise with external agencies to arrange and manage repairs.
- Troubleshoot problems that occur in the day-to-day use of the managed print systems, such as printer jams, clearing print queues and replacing toner
Legal
- Work with the IT Manager to ensure that all legal responsibilities are met with respect to:
- The Copyright Act. o The Computer Misuse Act. o GDPR.
- Software Compliance
- Ensure that licences for all IT systems are correct, up to date and not breached in daily use, reporting any discrepancies to the IT Manager.
- Respect the confidentiality of students, staff and other people associated with the school.
Health and Safety
- Become well versed in safety procedures in respect of IT systems hardware.
- Work with the IT Team and Site Team to ensure that all equipment meets Health and Safety standards inclusive of electrical safety.
- Help carry out PAT testing of all IT Equipment.
Other
- Update and maintain the inventory of all IT system hardware, software and licences, reporting any problems to the IT Manager.
- Maintain the Asset Register as and when required.
- Run Training sessions with the teaching iPad Lead for staff on our 1:1 iPad scheme.
- Encourage and train staff in the use of IT hardware and software when required, liaising with necessary staff where necessary.
- Assist teaching staff and pupils in the use of hardware and software as and when required.
- Be responsible for developing and managing the digital signage around the school.
- Update the school’s website as required.
- Carry out any other reasonable task as deemed necessary.
Training
- Training will be offered to provide, extend and maintain essential and desirable skills.
