Purpose of the job

Provide financial leadership for accounting policies & procedures, manage accounting records and control various financial aspects of the organization according to accounting, procurement, statuary (e.g. IFRS) and Capital Market Authority (CMA) requirements.

Deliver as per CMA deadlines quarterly and annual auditing reports and achieve good standing by External Auditors.

Maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks, review journal entries, review bank statements.

Oversee the operations of the accounting department, train and develop staff members setting up goals and objectives and monitor the progress.

Managing a team of credit control team. Formulation of the company’s credit policy to mitigate unnecessary risk.

Key Accountabilities

1. Reporting

Ensure applying the basic principles of internal control policies and accounting procedures to update accounting records that comply with legal, fiscal and accounting requirements. Conduct weekly and monthly financial assessments and generate reports to be submitted to the senior management team.

2. Monthly closing

Coordinate monthly book closing for the regions, preparation of consolidations and ensure the availability of accurate, timely and relevant data resulting in high quality reporting on trends and issues

3. Financial analysis/risks

Ensure preparation of financial analysis and suggest improvements to the business processes. Identify all areas of financial risk across the business and act conform company policy

4. Payment Approval

Review and approve supplier invoices and employee’s payments also ensure that payments are made as per policy.

5. Audit

Ensure supervision of quarterly and annual audit closing and improve on audit findings. Coordinate with the other functions the external relationships such as with company external auditors or government auditors.

6. Accruals

Ensure making and monthly and quarterly review of accruals based on advice from CFO. Perform, analyze and adhere to approved budgeting parameters.

7. Communications

Maintain effective communication with the financial team in the regions and provide adequate support through knowledge of systems, procedures and other financial directions

8. Business support

Work effectively with line management and other functional disciplines by facilitating adaptation to changes in business dynamics and their impact on the financial management policies and procedures

9. Projects

Cooperate and work in project teams with other functions and obtain others’ commitment and support for ideas and plans

10. HR Management

  • Ensure and manage an effective accounting department, required number and quality of people, and effective people management in line with Sadafco’s HR policies, in order to enable realization of the departmental goals

11.Credit & Depot Control

Managing a team of Credit Control Officers

Formulation of the company’s credit policy to mitigate unnecessary risk.

Reviewing credit applications and credit references to set credit limits and ensure creditworthiness.

Review and report on Aged Debtors to the management and to commercial Team.

Regularly reviewing the process and procedures to reduce debtor days.

Job Requirements

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or a MBA. However Master’s degree would be desirable

Additional professional certification (CPA, CMA, CA) is a requisite.

Minimal experience: 8 years relevant experience in financial roles of which at least 5 years experience preferably in FMCG industry

Experience gained in an ERP environment

Fluent in English & Arabic (Read, Write, Spoken)
