Position Summary:

As a Manual QA Engineer at Actabl, your mission is to protect Actabl’s brand by ensuring high quality product releases. You will be an integral part of our Quality Assurance team by defining and planning test strategy, creating new test suites, and running test executions with minimal guidance. You will work closely with experienced engineers, testers, product managers, who you will be learning from, and contribute to maintain the expected quality standard of our software solutions for hospitality. This role is ideal for passionate and driven individuals who are looking to build a solid foundation in software quality engineering and grow in their careers.

Essential Duties

  • Test features to enable releasing them to customers with utmost quality standards
  • Designing and executing Regression and Functional Testing
  • Create and execute test strategies with minimal day-to-day involvement
  • Find bugs in the testing environment before the code is released to production
  • Execute previously defined test suites from the test case repository (XRAY)
  • Create new test scenarios for hotfix issues and customer complaints and document them in XRAY
  • Constantly scour the application looking for gaps in the current testing coverage.
  • Keeping test cases up to date due to product changes/updates/enhancements.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of work items/issues when they are discussed and know when to ask clarifying (concise and well framed) questions to further your understanding.
  • Document precise replication steps for identified bugs and collaborate with the developers to identify the root cause

Other Duties & Responsibilities (Optional)

  • Strong communication skills with product owners and developers about issues and questions about work items.
  • You are extremely reliable and get work completed in a timely manner with correct prioritization
  • Provide proactive and reliable communication to your supervisor regarding work related issues, absences from work, etc.
  • Train new hires in skills specific to their tasks
  • Continuous improvement in the existing test coverage by seeking candidates to build new test cases from items being developed in sprints

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of experience

Key Competencies

  • Experience in Agile methods, particularly Scrum
  • Experience in documenting high quality test cases
  • Experience using defect tracking tools Jira etc
