About The Role
The Billing Data Specialist is responsible for enrolling customers in, and managing the ongoing process, of an automated utility bill processing service. The service has multiple subscription packages, which range from standard service offering to management of the customer’s data in the EnergyCAP Utility Management database. Depending on the customer’s subscription, the Specialist will not only enroll customers in the service but will also work in partnership with them, beyond enrollment, to manage the database and ensure that data is properly processed, stored, and kept up-to-date. The role combines both data management and billing operations to provide exceptional experiences and data quality that exceed customer expectations. Through regular touchpoints, the Specialist will assist customers to grow in their knowledge of EnergyCAP software and related services. The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented, with strong analytical skills and a team player, who is humble, curious, enthusiastic, organized, independent, accountable and able to seek effective solutions for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Accuracy and Cleanliness: Ensure the data from the bills processed through the service is accurate, complete, and current. This involves validating bill records, line items, addressing errors, and applying corrective action.
- Reporting and Analytics: Generate reports on bill data and records, such as data outliers, missing bills, overdue accounts, or any discrepancies in data, to inform customers or resolve issues.
- Customer Support: Address bill data inquiries and assist customers with any questions related to their bill processing subscription service, such as abnormal use/cost or data errors in the system.
- Best Practices: Ensure bill processing aligns with company and industry best practices, to ensure consistency in data quality and accuracy.
- System Maintenance: Coordinate with IT and technology teams to ensure the billing system is functioning properly, updates or fixes are performed, and troubleshoot any technical issues related to bill processing.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for streamlining bill processing and improving data accuracy or efficiency, whether through automation, system upgrades, or new workflows.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with the customer support, engineering, and product teams on enhancements, customer experience, and smooth operations.
Preferred Experience & Skills
- Proven experience with utility bills, energy data, data entry, or customer service, preferably in a subscription-based service environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data management tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on data accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities and the ability to resolve bill data discrepancies.
- Experience with billing cycles, data validation, and payment processing is a plus.
Pay Range: $45,000 – $50,000
Pay is commensurate on a variety of factors, including experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
