Drive the success of our Merchandise strategy by managing the critical path and optimizing Buying processes, systems, and performance. As the central point of contact for all projects impacting Buying, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our retail operations.

Key Responsibilities
As a key player in executing our Merchandise strategy, you’ll be responsible for driving the effective implementation and governance of all Buying processes and systems. Your role will encompass:
- Critical Path Management: Overseeing the Buying Critical Path to ensure timely execution of all projects and initiatives.
- Analysis & Reporting: Delivering insightful analysis and reporting to support data-driven decisions and continuous improvement within the Buying function.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Supporting group initiatives across departments, ensuring Buying-related projects are executed efficiently and aligned with company goals.
- Supplier Agreement Alignment: Ensuring that supplier agreements are aligned with business objectives and consistently reviewed to drive optimal performance.
- Team Management & Leadership: Leading and coaching the Buying team, fostering a culture of collaboration, development, and continuous improvement.
- Strategic Reviews & Planning: Managing the implementation of Buying SOPs, Strategic Intent, Comp Shop, Match Reviews, Marketing/Promotional planning, and the Licensed Product Calendar.
- System & Process Optimization: Ensuring all Buying systems, templates, and processes are standardized, well-documented, and aligned with industry best practices.
Additionally, you’ll
- Promote best practices across the team, ensuring consistent execution of the Buying Strategy.
- Facilitate skill development within the team, providing training and guidance to enable effective execution of processes and systems.
Experience Required
- At least 5 years of senior-level experience in Buying or Merchandise Planning within clothing, footwear, or homeware retail.
- Senior managerial experience with a deep understanding of product strategies and business processes.
- Strong knowledge of the Clothing Retail Cycle and Buying processes.
- Experience developing product and supplier strategies in a rapidly changing market.
Qualifications Required
- A relevant degree/qualification in Fashion, Textile Design, Clothing Production, Product Development, Merchandising, or a related field.
Knowledge
JOB-RELATED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Understanding of the retail merchandise cycle (Buying, Merchandise Planning, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Operations).
- Familiarity with company buying strategies and retail systems.
- Knowledge of the South African retail clothing market, competitors, and customers.
- Expertise in people management practices.
