Location : Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

Position Title: DGM R&D, Chocolate and confectionery, India

Summary:

Lead new product development on Chocolate, S&R, Spreads, and other adjacency category for core Hershey’s brands. The person should be able to lead these developments WITHIN market requirements, manufacturing, and budgetary constraints WITH THE OBJECTIVE of ensuring customer satisfaction, product related competitive advantage and enhancing contribution for the category.

Lead new product development on Chocolate, S&R, Spreads, and other adjacency category for core Hershey’s brands. The person should be able to lead these developments WITHIN market requirements, manufacturing, and budgetary constraints WITH THE OBJECTIVE of ensuring customer satisfaction, product related competitive advantage and enhancing contribution for the category.

Key Area of responsibility:

  • Identify new product requirement/development based on market and consumer understanding for S&R

(JR/Nutrine, Spreads, Chocolates.

  • Ensure product line extensions as per as per market and business plan requirements
  • Responsible for Commercial scale-up & technical feasibility of new product
  • Provide guidance to team on raw material / equipment requirements for recipe development, monitor

identification and on-boarding of new vendors

  • Lead internal evaluation of prototype/precommercial products with marketing and internal team
  • Support marketing on product concept/ prototypes for CPT
  • Define protocols/ parameters for shelf life study – physical, chemical, biological etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring successful new product launch within defined timelines
  • Lead Product Related Cost Reduction Initiatives.
  • Partnering with flavor houses for external innovation and keeping a track on competitive activity
  • Coordinating with finance for financial checks on projects
  • Developing alternate vendors basis business need
  • Supporting regulatory for mandatories development for new & current products
  • Interaction with suppliers to bring in new ingredients /flavors to improve quality/cost
  • Supporting cost saving initiatives, reviewing product recipes.
  • Supporting marketing /project team on project timelines & Gate Docs creation
  • Outsourcing new technology /application supports from flavor/ingredient manufacturer
  • Supporting supply chain in identifying feasible 3rd party for products manufacture.
  • Supporting on Global projects, coordinating with flavor houses in sourcing reviewed flavours per

Hershey protocol

  • Coordinating with International R&D for Technical/Recipe/process supports for local projects
  • Should be able to create roadmap for his categories
  • Approximately 5% travel required, primarily within the country, but including occasional international travel

to United States.

Educational criteria:

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s in food technology/related sciences from CFTRI/ICT or any other equivalent institute with 12-14 years of experience with chocolate background for 8-10 years
  • Should have understanding on various aspect of chocolate making and new technology in

that space
