Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Service Manager in North Yorkshire’s 0-19 Team.

The post holder will work across North Yorkshire collaborating with other internal and external partners strategically.

The Service Manager will be part of the Integrated Management Team leading delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and Safeguarding Children.

Working directly with the Head of Public Health Nursing and Operations this post will provide operational leadership and service management for clinical and non-clinical services and staff for the North Yorkshire 0-19 Service, within the Children and Young People Public Health Directorate, supporting cultural change and being involved in transformational changes.

The Service Manager will demonstrate a child and family focus and passion for the 0-19 children’s community health services (Health Visiting and Public Health Nursing), with the drive and enthusiasm to lead on service transformation and clinical development. The Service Manager post will be part of an innovative solution focused clinical management team across all HDFT localities, ensuring the delivery of high quality public health services to children and their families, addressing health inequalities and driving forward the integrated working agenda with key delivery partners to improve outcomes for children, young people and families.

  • To provide leadership for a specified area of the 0-19 Services and to ensure high quality, safe and effective services are delivered by the by 0-19 designated teams.
  • Promote effective collaborative working relationships with health, public health, children and young people services and social care staff in primary / community care and those in other statutory and voluntary services.
  • The Service Manager will be responsible for locality budget, best use of resources, and efficiency to deliver high quality sustainable care. There is responsibility for the overall performance management of your team and the production of high quality validated data and evidence of improved outcomes for children, young people and families.
  • Planning and implementation of service change and transformation within a complex and dynamic operational environment.
  • In line with local guidelines, reflect on own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and appraisal.
  • Ensure continuity of care by reporting any changes to service provision to all staff, as decisions are made / implemented.
  • Plans and organises strategies to enable children needs to be met in a timely and contemporaneous way and to ensure the delivery of children community services by the multi-professional team within the national quality requirements.
  • Deputise for the Head of Public Health Nursing and Operations when appropriate.
