Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Litigation Paralegal to join our growing personal injury team. We foster a relaxed office environment with meaningful work that is drama-free. In this role, you will provide legal support and assist in all phases of the litigation process. You will interact with clients, draft and file pleadings, answer discovery, conduct interviews and attend meetings. The ideal candidate is hardworking, reliable and detail-oriented.
Responsibilities
- Assist with all phases of litigation
- Understand and apply local rules
- Manage cases from inception to resolution
- Review medical records and draft medical chronologies
- Draft and respond to discovery
- Prepare pleadings (Complaints, Motions, etc.)
- Gather medical records and draft demand letters
- Conduct research and interview witnesses
- Directly work clients to obtain treatment status and provide case status
- Assist with intake and case evaluation
- Schedule depositions, IME appointments
- Issue witness/trial subpoenas
- Effectively communicate with clients, insurance carriers, courts, and medical provider offices
- Maintaining and organizing electronic case files
- Generating and sending correspondence and documents via mail, fax and email
- Provide general administrative support
Qualifications
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- 2-5 years paralegal experience in personal injury and workers’ compensation
- Expert level proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat/Power PDF
- E-filing: Maryland, DC and PACER
- Typing speed at least 85 wpm
- Familiarity with OneDrive
- Advanced knowledge of personal injury law procedures, regulations and the litigation process
- Experience with Workers’ Compensation claims process in MD and DC is preferred
- Experience with Case Peer preferred
- Utilizing case management software to track and monitor tasks and deadlines
- Calendaring Scheduling Order deadlines, trial dates, client meetings, depositions, etc.
- Willingness to perform administrative tasks as necessary
- Proactive work style, taking initiative to anticipate attorney needs.
- Written and verbal fluency in Spanish preferred but not required
