Job Description
The post provides the opportunity to work with a variety of health and social care colleagues on all aspects of Adult Safeguarding and Mental Capacity Act legal duties. Working closely with our Integrated Service Units, you will also maintain and develop systems and processes to safeguard patients from abuse and improper treatment and support our workforce education programme.
This will include taking a lead role in ensuring there are consistent and effective operational responses to safeguarding adult concerns within TSDFT regulatory settings and ensuring all (regulated) clinical staff understand their roles in keeping people safe from abuse or neglect and responding to adult abuse concerns.

- With the support of senior safeguarding professionals provide professional advice and support regarding safeguarding to all at TSDFT
- To work closely with multi-agency professionals from the community to safeguard patients, the public, staff and the organisation
- To help to ensure that supervision systems are robust, monitored and evaluated.
- To prepare chronologies for Trust and multi-agency partners and participate in enquiries as needed.
- Ensure accurate and informative clinical safeguarding records are maintained and monitored through audit.
- With the support of the SGA/MCA Lead and SGA/MCA Operational Manager contribute to the delivery of the Safeguarding Training Strategy.
- Work unsupervised using own judgement and decision-making skills on day-to-day operational and strategic issues.
- Plan and interpret own workload and that of others, adhering to Trust policies, procedures and guidelines
The Safeguarding Adult Mental Capacity Act Team is an experienced multi-disciplinary team consisting of Social Workers, Nurses, Allied Professionals and Administrators.
Together we are passionate about protecting people from abuse, neglect and human rights breaches. We all have an important role to play and work hard in achieving our shared aims and goals.
We work closely with patients, colleagues within TSDFT, as well as working in collaboration with our Partners and Stakeholders across Torbay and Devon to fundamentally protect people’s human rights.
