Job Description

The International Communications Officer will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive international communication strategy to promote HITAP’s research, activities, and impact to a global audience. This role requires strong writing, editing, and digital media skills, as well as a deep understanding of international communication best practices and cultural sensitivities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Implement International Communication Strategy: Create and implement a strategic plan for communicating HITAP’s research and activities to international audiences, including researchers, policymakers, media outlets, and other key stakeholders in target regions/countries. This includes identifying key messages, selecting appropriate channels, and adapting content for diverse cultural contexts.
  • Content Creation and Management: Develop, write, edit including press releases, website content, social media posts, article blogs, presentations, reports, and other relevant formats.
  • Digital Media Management: Manage and optimize HITAP’s international social media presence across various platforms. Monitor online engagement, analyze performance metrics, and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Media Relations: Build and maintain relationships with international and/or Thai media outlets to secure positive coverage of HITAP’s work. Prepare media kits, pitch stories, and handle media inquiries effectively.
  • International Event Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute international conferences, webinars, and other events as well as execute communications related to the events.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with international researchers, funding organizations, partner institutions, and stakeholders through communication channels.
  • Collaboration and Reporting: Collaborate closely with HITAP’s International Unit, International Research Unit, and other internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication across all platforms.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrate a strong understanding of diverse cultural contexts and adapt communication strategies accordingly.
  • Translation and Localization: (If applicable) Oversee the translation and localization of communication materials, ensuring accuracy and cultural appropriateness.
  • Budget Management: (If applicable) Manage allocated budget for international communication activities.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, International Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • At lease 1-2 years of experience in international communications or a related field.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing successful international communication strategies.
  • Portfolio: Demonstrate to former projects related to the applied job explaining the working process, challenges, key of success, and outcome.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English.
  • Strong understanding of social media marketing and digital communication platforms.
  • Experience working with international media and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Fluency in English and/or Thai.
