Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Human Resources Specialist to join our fast-growing general contracting company in Long Island City, NY. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in managing HR-related tasks, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a positive workplace environment. This role will collaborate closely with various departments to support our dynamic team.
Responsibilities:
Handle all HR-related tasks, including onboarding, offboarding and benefits management.
Ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws, as well as company policies.
Maintain and update employee records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
Oversee the recruitment process, including job postings, screening, and coordinating interviews.
Develop employee engagement programs to promote a positive and productive workplace culture.
Address employee concerns and provide guidance on HR-related issues.
Assist with training and development programs to support employee growth.
Manage time-off requests and attendance tracking systems.
Collaborate with ownership and senior management to align HR practices with company goals.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
At least 5 years of human resources experience.
Proven experience in an HR role, preferably in the construction or contracting industry.
In-depth knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
