Role Overview
The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations, implementing quality systems, managing sample testing, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Laboratory Management – Supervise daily operations and ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Quality System Implementation – Ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Sample & Testing Management – Oversee testing sequences and report test results accurately.
- Health & Safety Compliance – Maintain a safe working environment and enforce safety protocols.
- Equipment Management – Ensure laboratory equipment is well-maintained and calibrated.
- Reporting – Compile reports for BPR (Business Performance Review).
- Laboratory Audits – Conduct and oversee regular laboratory audits.
RequirementsMinimum Requirements
- Education:
- Matric (Grade 12) required.
- Civil Engineering Diploma/Degree or Supervisory Management Certificate (Advantageous).
Experience
- Minimum 5+ years in a similar position.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of mining environments.
- Computer literacy (MS Office & relevant software).
- Sampling & Testing of Construction Materials (TMH 5, SANS 3001 AG 1 – AG 23, GR 1 – GR 40).
- Analysis & Interpretation of Test Results (SANS 1083, SANS 1090, COLTO & COTO).
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must be medically fit (Mine Health and Safety Act).
