Job Description
The Coding Manager will oversee and manage the coding department to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices across all clinical departments. This role is critical in maintaining financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and optimal reimbursement for Cayuga Health’s services.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Supervise coding staff by monitoring productivity, accuracy, compliance, and performance, ensuring adherence to organizational goals.
- Coordinate and manage employee schedules to ensure adequate coverage and timely completion of departmental objectives.
- Conduct training programs for new hires and ongoing staff development, focusing on coding accuracy, compliance, and productivity.
- Perform annual performance evaluations for coding staff, addressing areas for improvement and providing educational feedback.
- Develop and maintain coding compliance procedures and ensure adherence to OIG, CMS, and state regulations.
Required Skills And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC), and Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) credentials required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in physician office coding and systems.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook).
Preferred Skills And Experience
- Advanced knowledge of revenue cycle processes and familiarity with RVUs and Fee Schedules.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged sitting, with occasional bending, stooping, and stretching.
- Eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, and calculator.
- Frequent exposure to visual strain from close inspection of forms, documents, and computer use.

Pay Range Disclosure
- Standard Salary Rate of $33.00 – $45.00 per hour plus benefits.
