What You Get To Do
- Support park-wide and event Theming needs with the fabrication, installation/strike and maintenance/repair of props, set pieces and décor
- Creatively executing themed props and designs for seasonal events in the park
- Troubleshooting, maintenance and/or repair of all scenic elements, properties, equipment and hardware
- Assist with layout/preparation, painting and maintenance of murals and faux-finished elements
- Train new employees
- Assist with material inventory process and install/strike of flags and banners
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas and vehicles
- Perform other duties as assigned
What It Takes To Succeed
- Must be proficient in 3 of the following categories
- Matthew Paint Certification with sufficient experience with spray projects- including paint mixing and cleaning equipment
- Fork Lift & High Reach Certified
- Sufficient experience and project completion with foam carving and hard coat
- Must be able to use and train others to use all shop carpentry tools
- Sufficient experience and project completion with scenic painting- must be able to master a variety of techniques and custom mix and match color
- Sufficient experience and project completion in mold making and fiberglass resins
- High school diploma or equivalent, plus relevant technical coursework
- At least 2 years related job experience or demonstration of proficiency in related skill ranges; such as scenic painting, carpentry, foam carving, and mold making
- Construction experience sufficient to ensure proper execution of scenic and general carpentry projects
- Experience with a variety of paint mediums
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specification documents
- Ability to climb a ladder and work at heights between 6 and 65 feet
- Ability to stand, bend or kneel for long periods of time
- Ability to bend, reach, twist and turn with complete flexibility
- Ability to lift, push and pull 50 pounds
- Comfortability working in theater and outdoor environments (dark/nighttime conditions, in/around water, in varying weather conditions)
- Comfortability working around animals
- Comfortability with exposure to noise and vibrations
- Comfortable working under deadline situations with changing priorities
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to train on and properly use protective gear
- Comfortability working around fumes/dust/odor
- Availability to work varying shifts or hours based on park hours; i.e. be able to work opening and closing shifts, as well as event rehearsal shifts
- Must be willing to comply with all SEA grooming guidelines and employment standards
- Possession of a valid state driver’s license required
