Summary: The Controller of Finance and Procurement is responsible for managing executive finance activities and procurement functions to ensure 1440’s financial health.

Financial Controller Duties
- Collaborates with department heads to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with 1440 Multiversity goals.
- Executes financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring accurate financial projections and regular updates to management.
- Prepares financial statements and ensures compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
- Manages cash flow, accounts payable, and receivable processes, ensuring liquidity, timely payments, and collections.
- Supports audits and liaises with external auditors to ensure audit readiness and accuracy of financial records.
- Performs reconciliations to ensure accurate financial data and resolve discrepancies.
- Develops, implements, and improves financial controls and processes to streamline operations and financial compliance.
- Provides hands-on guidance to the accounting team and supports day-to-day financial tasks.
- Monitors financial performance, advising leadership on cost-saving opportunities and strategies for improving profitability.
- Collaborates with Foundation on related matters.
Procurement Lead Duties
- Develops and executes procurement strategies to optimize costs and ensure quality.
- Collaborates with the team to align procurement processes with financial goals.
- Manages supplier relationships and negotiates contracts to secure favorable terms.
- Monitors inventory levels and coordinates with departments to meet supply needs.
- Ensures compliance with procurement policies and ethical practices.
- Conduct market research to identify new vendors and cost-saving opportunities.
- Customarily and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment only under general supervision.

- Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
- Experience:
- Required: Minimum of three years of experience in Finance, procurement or supply chain management.
- Language Skills: Must possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Writes reports, business correspondences, and procedure manuals. Effectively responds and presents information from questions to managers, groups of managers, clients, Guests, or the general public.
- Mathematical Skills: Must have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry while applying fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Reasoning Ability: Must possess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions while interpreting a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Business Acumen: Must understand the business implications of decisions; displays orientation to profitability; demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; aligns work with strategic goals; demonstrates understanding of current role and job responsibilities. Acts with accountability while committing to achieve 1440’s financial goals and mission objectives.
- Computer Skills: Must have knowledge of Internet software, and Microsoft Suite of Products, NetSuite, Adobe Creative Cloud and type 50 WPM.
- Accounting Skills: Must possess a thorough understanding of accounting principles and know legal requirements related to wage and hour compliance, maintains the general ledger accurately per GAPP, produces annual and three-year budgets that include a detailed explanation of variances, identifies accounting issues, and propose solutions.
- Finance Skills: Must understand the principles of business finance, including investment of money, debt management, and banking relationships.
