Position Function
Under the direction of the Marketing & Events Supervisor, performs duties to support the Recreation Division, ensuring the proper maintenance of the Event Center property and facilities and providing a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment. Responsible for customer service and guest concierge support.
Essential Duties
- Performs duties to ensure positive customer service relations through concierge services. Consult with customers to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, conferences, and conventions. Responsible for anticipating and fulfilling guests’/customers’ needs concerning greeting, event supplies, strategic event setups, resolving complaints and/or issues, ensuring safety, assisting with audio/visual equipment and network needs, vendor coordination, and other event needs. Monitor event activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and laws, satisfaction of participants, and resolution of any problems that arise. Assisting event coordinator with tours for future events and client final planning meetings.
- Performs duties necessary to support the Recreation Division to ensure the proper maintenance of the Event Center property and facilities, and providing for a safe and aesthetically pleasing environment. Responsible for the preparation, “changeover” and general maintenance of the Event Center. Duties include, but are not limited to, moving bulky or heavy equipment, supplies, and presentation construction (e.g. stages, chairs, tables, etc.); grounds keeping; minor maintenance; janitorial; and events set-up and tear down.
- Performs duties to ensure positive customer service relations through concierge services. Responsible for anticipating and fulfilling guest’s/customers’ needs concerning greeting, resolving complaints and/or issues, ensuring safety, assisting with audio/visual equipment and network needs, and vendor coordination.
- Performs duties necessary to support and prepare for City-wide events through constructing and/or deconstructing fencing, barricades, chairs, and stages, as well as “set-up” and “tear-down” tasks. Duties include but are limited to, general landscaping, mowing, sweeping, edging, debris and litter removal, and painting.
- Responsible for safely using and proper care and maintenance of all tools and equipment necessary to complete projects, assignments, and/or tasks.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Environment
Duties are performed primarily within an indoor environment or setting. Possible exposure to electrical and chemical hazards; vibration; loud noise; and dust, allergens, and mold. Grounds and facility upkeep duties and participation in special and/or outdoor events may result in exposure to inclement weather.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Required knowledge and experience are normally obtained through the completion of a curriculum resulting in either a High School Diploma or GED, and one (1) year work related experience is required.
- Must exhibit attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.
- Must be able to communicate and present oneself professionally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with City employees’ officials, and the general public.
- Ability to take and follow oral instructions.
- Ability to read and understand product instructions.
- Ability to work under high demands, short time constraints, and pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to work during weekends and nighttime events and hours of operation.
- Ability to learn and operate audio/visual equipment.
- Skilled in operating landscaping equipment and handheld and/or power tools.
Other Requirements
- Must possess a Valid Florida Class E driver’s license.
- Must pass applicable pre-employment testing and background and credit checks.
Special Requirement
This position may be required to report for work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.
