Job Overview

The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of gensets and related equipment at client sites. The role requires extensive travel and direct interaction with customers to ensure maximum uptime and reliability of the equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation & Commissioning:
  • Install and commission gensets at customer sites as per technical and safety standards.
  • Perform pre-commissioning checks and system integration.
  • Maintenance & Repair:
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure genset efficiency and reliability.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in gensets and related components (mechanical, electrical, and control systems).
  • Replace defective parts and provide repair reports.
  • Customer Support:
  • Act as a technical resource for clients by addressing queries and training them on equipment usage.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance and guidance.
  • Documentation:
  • Maintain detailed records of service activities, work reports, and technical documentation.
  • Prepare service logs, expense reports, and maintenance schedules.
  • Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.
  • Maintain proper use of tools, PPE, and adhere to safety guidelines at all times.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Participate in product training sessions to stay updated with the latest technologies.
  • Provide feedback to engineering teams for product improvement.

Key Skills And Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of diesel and gas gensets, alternators, and control systems
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer handling skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software

Qualifications And Experience

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering
  • 2-5 years of experience in genset service, maintenance, or related field
  • Familiarity with genset brands like TATA, Cummins, Kirloskar, or Caterpillar is a plus
  • Valid driving license
