Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Salary: £83 – £100 per day

Start Date: ASAP / On-going

GSL Education is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist school in Scarborough. Special Needs Teaching Assistant Role Overview

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities that meet individual student needs.
  • Support students’ social and emotional development, promoting a positive learning experience.
  • Use de-escalation strategies and positive behaviour management techniques when required.
  • Help create a safe and engaging classroom environment that supports sensory and communication needs.

Special Needs Teaching Assistant Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN in a school or care setting.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff and students.
  • A willingness to undergo training in areas such as safeguarding and behaviour management.
  • An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
