Position Summary

Oversees the user experience and design strategy across all product interfaces, with a primary focus on managing external design agencies and vendors. Ensures seamless, high-quality experiences for BMI’s customers through a user-centric approach. Optimizes internal applications, ensuring best UX practices are followed. Collaborates closely with product owners to enhance their UX skill sets.

Functions Of The Job

  • Establishes and communicates a clear vision for the UX/Design function.
  • Leads user research efforts to gather user insights and serves as the “voice of the customer” in the technology organization and prioritizes customer needs.
  • Manages external agencies and design vendors to support project needs, ensuring high-quality execution and alignment with brand standards.
  • Leads the training and upskilling of internal product owners, helping them understand and incorporate UX principles into BMI’s product development processes.
  • Collaborates with product management, engineering, and marketing teams to ensure design strategies align with overall business goals.
  • Develops and enforces design standards and guidelines, ensuring a cohesive look and feel across all digital interfaces.
  • Establishes efficient processes for managing multiple design projects across external and internal teams, ensuring timely delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Supports the commercial organizations in presentations, materials, and customer meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualification Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree. Music industry experience preferred.

Experience: 10+ years of experience in UX, design, or product roles, preferably in a SaaS or payments environment. Proven track record in managing complex UX projects and external vendor relationships.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience training non-design stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a focus on results.
  • Deep understanding of UX design principles and methodologies, including usability, interaction design, and user research.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools, such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and InVision.
  • Experience managing external vendors and agencies, ensuring alignment with design standards and project goals.
  • Ability to communicate complex design concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in conducting user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and optimize user experience.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of balancing multiple initiatives and delivering high-quality outcomes on time.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work cross-functionally with product management, engineering, and marketing teams.
  • Experience in training and mentoring non-design team members to grow their understanding and application of UX best practices.
  • Ability to establish trust and credibility with internal teams and external partners through transparency, consistency, and thought leadership.

SALARY RANGE

The specific base salary offered to a successful applicant will be based on individual qualifications, skills, experience, and education. The pay range is subject to change at any time based on various internal and external factors. The position may also be eligible for one or more performance-based bonuses.
