About the role:

The footwear buyer role works within a buying team dedicated to providing the best possible outdoor products for our customer’s next adventure.

The role’s objectives are to trade our stores footwear offer to grow sales and margin and to manage stock to ensure we maximise our return on inventory.

The role is full time and will be based in either our Christchurch office or South Melbourne office.

Day to day you’ll:

• Evaluate performance against forecast and take relevant price or inventory action to ensure sales are met and stock is available to support future sales.
• Be responsible for your respective Product Group assortment range planning selections and promotional pricing.
• Lead the forecasting of plans for your Product Group along with the timely and accurate requests for placement of Purchase Orders to Purchasing in line with the Critical Path.
• Take responsibility for Range Sign Off and Line Adopt stages of the Critical Path for ensuring the retail ranges are commercial and will deliver budget targets.
• Consult with Product Managers and Designers at Range Development stage of the Critical Path ensuring the range is innovative, commercially viable, and reinforces business strategy.
• Work alongside the Retail Allocators to ensure the store selections and stock is at the optimal level to deliver the sales potential and targets for the business.

What we are looking for;

• Demonstrated experience in buying Footwear
• An understanding of the outdoor market and associated brands
• A genuine passion for products and trading a business to deliver results
• An enthusiastic person who enjoys the outdoors
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, flexible team player with the ability to work on your own initiative
• High level of commercial and analytical skills
• Intermediate/Advanced Excel experience
