We are seeking a highly motivated and eager-to-learn individual to join our team as a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic Intern specializing in Manitowoc and Grove cranes. This is an exceptional opportunity for aspiring mechanics to gain invaluable hands-on experience working on cutting-edge crane technology within a renowned dealership. Under the guidance of experienced technicians, the intern will assist with various mechanical tasks, develop specialized skills, and contribute to the success of our service department.

This program is a 14-week program in which the courses will be a Tuesday to Friday work week, hours being 7:30am to 4:00pm.

OUTCOME OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM

After the training program listed above, you will have received a deeper understanding of the mobile crane industry, practical and technical skills both. With the knowledge gained, you will be able to apply them to the crane industry with little to no struggle. We hope to inspire more youth to dive into the crane industry and become a supporting pillar.

ELIGIBILITY FOR INTERNSHIP WITH WESTERN PACIFIC CRANE & EQUIPMENT CANADA

With the training received, the possibility of an internship with Western Pacific Crane & Equipment will be heavily considered. Eligibility will also be determined based on the dedication and focus during the training program and to the crane industry. Any possibility of internship is up for discretion but will be heavily considered with participants apart of the Western Pacific Crane & Equipment Canada training program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced mechanics with routine maintenance tasks on Manitowoc and Grove cranes, including inspections, oil changes, filter replacements, and basic diagnostics.
  • Learn and assist with more complex repairs under close supervision, such as hydraulic system repairs, engine overhauls, and component replacements specific to Manitowoc and Grove cranes.
  • Observe and learn proper repair procedures, safety protocols, and troubleshooting techniques specific to crane technology.
  • Develop a strong understanding of crane operation, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper tool and equipment storage.
  • Assist with inventory management and tool organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Level 3 equivalent classroom training program in Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical principles and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license (if required for the role).
  • Experience operating heavy equipment (preferred but not required).
  • Strong interest in working with Manitowoc and Grove cranes (highly desirable).
