As our Director of Event Production , you will lead the Production and Conversions teams to deliver exceptional Rose Quarter events. You will oversee the vision, strategy, and operations of the Event Production and Conversions Department, ensuring seamless event execution, team development, and safety compliance. In this leadership role, you’ll manage budgets, collaborate with clients and vendors, maintain key venue systems, and foster relationships with industry partners. With a focus on operational excellence and team culture, you’ll ensure every event creates an unforgettable experience for our guests, clients, and employees alike.

DAY-TO-DAY:
- Establish and communicate the overall vision and direction for Event Production and Conversions Department culture, SOPs, training, and initiatives.
- Directly manage the Senior Event Production Manager and Senior Manager of ESS/Conversions including interviewing, hiring, and training employees, creating development plans, and providing direct feedback in regular check-ins and performance reviews.
- Serve as Event Production Manager as needed; Consult and coordinate with clients and vendors to ensure event and production needs and service levels are appropriate for a safe and successful event including staffing, timing, and equipment.
- Provide on-site event support or serve as Leader on Duty as required.
- Prepare, review, and manage operating and event budgets for respective areas to ensure resources, staffing and revenue are maximized.
- Prepare and oversee the team’s creation of pre-event planning materials, CAD drawings, labor and equipment orders, event estimates and invoices, schedules and other related documents ensuring they are accurate and appropriate for the event’s needs.
- Responsible for the creation and execution of event set ups to ensure a safe environment for artists, employees, and fans including compliance with fire & life safety regulations.
- Oversee internal review of the rigging structural guidelines for each show to ensure set engineer weight loads are maintained. Obtain structural analysis when needed from Structural Engineer and enforce bridal plan.
- Oversight and maintenance of event audio, lighting, and rigging systems.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with IATSE Local 28, schedule and attend quarterly meetings, ensure strong collaboration and communication, hold both parties accountable to terms of the CBA and be an advocate of Rip City Management (RCM) with the training trust.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with counterparts in like venues and in market.
WE’D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU:
- Bring 5-7 years of experience in event production, including managing large-scale events in multipurpose venues or arenas.
- Have demonstrated success in leading and developing diverse teams, including hiring, training, and providing performance feedback.
- Are committed to developing a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Possess strong knowledge of audio, lighting, rigging, and arena equipment, as well as fire and life safety regulations.
- Are experienced in creating and interpreting CAD drawings and other event planning documents.
- Demonstrate familiarity with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and experience fostering positive relationships with union partners.
- Can problem-solve under pressure and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Are able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and are comfortable working at heights.
