Permanent contract, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Are you an experienced in the world of Art and Design/Photography and looking for a new challenge? Bath College is seeking a technician/instructor to join our fantastic team! It is an exciting time to join our Art team with the provision growing each year and great levels of investment being put into increasing the technology and facilities we have to offer in line with local skills plan growth and development initiatives.

You will be motivated and enthusiastic about the creative sector and be able to work well as part of a collaborative team.

You will have experience in the industry and with up-to-date knowledge on health and safety and working practices with an excellent understanding of the creative sector, including but not limited to photography.

You will also have experience of working with students, preferably in FE and HE.

Adopting an innovative approach to supporting teaching, learning and assessment, you should be capable of providing highly specialist technical instruction in digital and analogue photography, with extensive experience of working in a darkroom.

Ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment to all learners is essential, with the understanding of how to safely use equipment used in dark room photo developing.

Our City Centre Campus is based right in Bath City Centre, giving you the opportunity to work in one of the most beautiful cities in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

Instructors are expected to:

  • To carryout routine housekeeping in specialist areas (Darkroom and Photography studio).
  • To lead taught sessions with students where required, following plans of learning for the associated course.
  • To seek professional advice and guidance on specific machinery and equipment from specialists, and maintain machines and equipment to ensure they are in safe working order.
  • To organise and deliver efficient and effective assessing according to Awarding Body Standards in support of lecturing staff.
