Position Summary

The Career & Education Coach plays a pivotal role in ACHIEVEability’s workforce development efforts, supporting the implementation of programs like WorkSmart West Philly and TechUp. This role focuses on career coaching, resource building, and employer engagement, aimed at helping participants of all ages achieve employment goals. The ideal candidate is a polished professional with experience in career development, cultural competence, and the ability to inspire and support individuals in an urban environment.

Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Career Coaching

  • Provide 1:1 coaching and group workshops for participants, addressing career planning, job readiness, and soft skill development (e.g., resume writing, interviewing, self-presentation, and workplace etiquette).
  • Assist participants in creating and implementing individualized employment plans, emphasizing career advancement and job retention.
  • Administer vocational assessments and guide participants through identifying and leveraging their skills and interests.
  • Coach participants on digital literacy, employee rights, compensation, and benefits.

Employer Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with employers, creating a robust network of job opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a jobs database, detailing available positions, requirements, and employer contacts.
  • Represent ACHIEVEability at job fairs and community events to identify employment opportunities.

Program Development & Resource Building

  • Facilitate and oversee onsite job readiness programs, collaborating with external partners for training and certifications.
  • Partner with community organizations and nonprofits to expand training resources and career pathways.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and ensure data integrity in the tracking of workforce development efforts.

Community and Team Collaboration

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with professionals and volunteers in complementary programs.
  • Collaborate with ACHIEVEability staff to integrate services and align program goals.
  • Support participants of all age demographics, fostering resourceful connections within the community.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in workforce development, career coaching, human services, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated success in engaging participants in career exploration, job search assistance, and professional development.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with technology, including Salesforce (preferred).
  • Ability to engage professionally with employers, stakeholders, and participants.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with attention to polish and self-awareness.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with diverse cultural contexts and experience working in urban environments.
  • Resourceful, action-oriented, and motivated to support community-focused initiatives.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

Benefits

Compensation

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $50,000 to $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
