Job Role
We are looking to hire an experienced nursery cook who will work across all our 5 locations to cover the main nursery chefs when they are on annual/sick leave. The right candidate will also have some childcare experience to cover nurseries’ needs in the classrooms when necessary.
This is a full-time permanent position where the candidate will work half year in the kitchen and half in the classroom.
As a Cook, you will be solely responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen. This will include the preparation of an entirely organic set menu plan (provided by the school) which consists of a morning snack (chopped fruit), preparation of lunch and an afternoon snack (varying from smoothies to sandwiches).
As a Classroom Assistant, you will be working across all rooms where ages range from 6 months to 4 years. You will support the room leaders and team within the rooms, giving you great experience as a practitioner and enhancing your development.
Ideally, You Will Have The Following
- Experience preparing food for large numbers of children and or adults.
- Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate or above
- Food Allergen Awareness
- At least one year of childcare experience
- Health & Safety and safeguarding practices
Responsibilities As Nursery Cook
- Maintaining high hygiene standards to ensure a safe working environment following Food Standard Agency/ Environmental Health guidelines.
- Prepare a balanced rotating menu considering the children’s dietary and cultural requirements.
- Maintaining necessary kitchen procedures and records.
- To undertake any other reasonable catering duties as requested by the Nursery Manager.
- Ensure all crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are washed following food safety guidelines.
- Ensure that all foods are ready at the specified time and correctly served.
- To implement and maintain the company’s equal opportunities policy, ensuring that children, parents and the staff team are valued, and practice is positive and non-discriminatory.
Responsibilities As Classroom Assistant
The chosen candidate will be responsible for caring for the children, supervising their daily activities, and organising and preparing activities and materials.
