General Manager – Europe

MMT Automation are hiring an experienced General Manager to oversee the overall operational activities of the European sites. This role will be based in Cork, Ireland and will include frequent travel to Galway, Ireland and occasional travel to The Netherlands.

Objectives of this role:

The GM must develop long-term operational strategies and workflows, working closely with senior management to meet company objectives. The role requires outstanding organisation, communication, planning and leadership skills and an ability to develop innovative solutions. The successful candidate will have a commitment to excellence, working closely with executives to strategize and develop long-term plans to maximise productivity and success for the company.

Key responsibilities:

  • Direct responsibility for the operational performance of MMT Automation (currently two sites in Ireland) and MPT Europe including Quality, Safety, Engineering Supply Chain, Assembly and Continuous Improvement. * Will include key inputs to Sales including quote approvals.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to ensure the site hits targets, optimises production capacity, maintains a high level of quality, drives cost reduction activities, and meets customer requirements.
  • Maximize efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration. Set strategic goals for operational efficiency and increased productivity.
  • Collaborate with senior managers in the development of performance goals and long-term operational plans.
  • Will be responsible for matrixed business partner guidance (Finance and HR), mentoring and daily business operations – including special projects.
  • Work with key stakeholders in the development of financial and budgetary plans.
  • Develop and engage talented leaders in MMT Automation, ensuring that the organizational structure, talent and resources are aligned with the key business imperatives to deliver exceptional results.
  • Demonstrate commitment to building exceptional teams by seeking “best in class” talent, engaging them to solve challenging business issues, and driving for developmental experiences with the aim of developing the next generation of leaders.
  • Identify risks (safety, quality, and supply) and develop plans to mitigate risks.
  • Ensure adherence to tier 1 and tier 2 metrics related to the corporate balanced scorecard.

Qualifications and/or experience required:

  • 10-15+ years in a senior leadership role in the manufacturing industry.
  • Commercial awareness and a thorough understanding of the competitive environment including pricing, quote approval and discounting.
  • Ability to travel frequently as the position will be based in Cork, IE and will have equal responsibilities in Galway, IE. Future expansion of the role to the Netherlands and beyond is likely.
  • Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to motivate and retain staff, backed by previous professional success.
  • Time management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively and delegate when appropriate.
  • Ability to quickly gain the respect and support of own staff and fellow leaders.
  • Project management skills and knowledge of methodologies such as Agile, Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Ability to generate results, enthusiasm, high levels of trust, commitment, and a sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated ability in change management and project management.
  • Superior knowledge of multiple operational functions and principles, including finance, customer service, production, and employee management.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity.
  • Experience in developing budgets and business plans; as well as developing emerging leaders.
  • The successful candidate will have site leaders reporting to them.
