Job Overview

We are in search of a seasoned and dynamic professional to join our organization as the Vice President of Operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee a network of 100-125+ veterinary hospitals across the Pacific Northwest, California, and Arizona. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will play a vital role in providing strategic direction and operational support to ensure that all facilities achieve their performance objectives and operational aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a substantial network of veterinary hospitals, ensuring adherence to operational excellence and alignment with strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with divisional leaders and regional managers to cultivate a positive and inclusive culture, promoting team development and operational efficacy.
  • Deliver strategic direction and business support to all hospital locations, ensuring they are fully equipped to flourish.
  • Engage extensively in fieldwork, partnering with hospital leadership and staff to bolster day-to-day operations and facilitate post-acquisition integration.
  • Propel the ongoing growth of the organization by enhancing existing operations and ensuring seamless transitions for newly acquired facilities.
  • Champion the recruitment and retention of top-tier talent within regional and local teams.

Required Skills

  • At least 10 years of experience in multi-site operations management, preferably in a fast-paced and high-growth context such as veterinary services, pet care, healthcare, or dental industries.
  • Proven experience managing over 100 locations, with a focus on scaling organizations through mergers and acquisitions, organic growth, or de novo business models.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze complex data and make informed recommendations for operational enhancements (e.g., budgeting, staffing, ROI, margins).
  • A passion for team development and leadership, with a demonstrated history of fostering culture, managing personnel, and steering teams toward success.
  • Comfortable navigating complexity and ambiguity, with a goal-oriented mindset aimed at driving business growth.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, approximately 50% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; an MBA is preferred.
  • More than 10 years of multi-site operational or management experience in high-growth enterprises.
  • Experience in the veterinary or healthcare sectors is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in leveraging data analytics tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Tableau.
