Terms of Reference

The UNHCR team for Belgium and Luxembourg wishes to recruit an intern for a period of six months. The selected candidate will be based in Luxembourg.

In order to be considered eligible for an internship, the following criteria must be fulfilled:

Be a recent graduate or current student in a graduate/undergraduate school program, preferable in political sciences, law and / or international relations, from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO; and

Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR.

Be fluent in French and have an excellent command of written and spoken English. Knowledge of German and/or Luxembourgish will be an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze Luxembourg asylum law and practice
  • Assist in Individual Cases
  • Research country of origin information and a variety of refugee and statelessness issues
  • Draft a wide range of documents including reports and correspondence, and responding to information requests
  • Write, edit and translate texts (in English, French and German/Luxembourgish, according to native language)
  • Assist with public information activities and the organization of events
  • Attend meetings, in particular with NGOs
  • Provide administrative assistance and clerical support as may be required.
