About The Role

Purpose

The main purpose of the role is to lead the management accounting function of the 7IM Group. The candidate will be responsible for the timely and accurate production of the financial reporting packs across the core trading legal entities within the Group, and their consolidation into the Group results.

The management accounting team is composed of 8 team members and the role will have 4 direct reports. Strong line management skills are a crucial skillset required for the role. The candidate will be a team player who is happy to get involved in day-to-day finance activities and has a “can do” attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month end process according to agreed deadlines
  • Oversee the financial accounting of all core subsidiaries within the group
  • Review and sign off balance sheets reconciliations across all core subsidiaries and holdings companies.
  • Liaise with FP&A to review variances and complete analysis for Group reporting
  • Responsible for the accounting in the holding companies and up the structure
  • Complete group consolidation at both regulated and unregulated level across the group
  • Lead the cross entity recharges in line with group transfer pricing policy and reconcile all related parties / intercompany transactions
  • Support the entities rationalization process undertaken by the Group
  • Lead the group corporate audit providing support and managing queries
  • Oversee the first draft of Financial Statements for all core subsidiaries under FRS 101
  • Produce first draft of Financial Statements at required consolidation levels under IFRS
  • Assist the Head of External Reporting to assess and implement any relevant new accounting standards and reporting requirements across the Group
  • Drive improvements in the Group reporting process
  • Create and/or keep updated all records of procedures and workflows within the Group process management software
  • Direct management of 3 qualified accountants and the Accounts Payable function
  • Assist with implementing a robust control environment and maintaining adherence to company and accounting policies, ensuring necessary workpapers are prepared for significant transactions
  • Assist with the preparation of VAT returns and submissions
  • Assist with ongoing finance projects

About You

Knowledge & Experience

  • Retail financial services background in a multi-entities environment essential
  • Experience of running a month end close for multi-entities is essential
  • Experience of group consolidations and intercompany reconciliations
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience of accounting practices, financial management and best practice financial reporting
  • Ability to work under pressure and perform several tasks concurrently in a deadline driven environment
  • Able to roll up their sleeves and “get stuck in”
  • Detail oriented and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Highly motivated – able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • MS Systems Literate (particularly Excel eg. V-Lookups and pivot tables, word and outlook)
  • Experience of using SunSystems and Q&A advantageous but not essential

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification in accounting (ACA, CA, ACCA etc)

  • 5 years experience post professional qualification essential
  • Line management skills essential
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Strong communication ability with internal and external parties, with regular exposure to senior management
  • Ability to manage workload effectively and work on own initiative
  • The role will comprise a mixture of regular tasks and ad hoc tasks as the Group is undertaking extensive M&A activities. It reports into the Head of Management Accounting
