Employee Status: Contract

Bargaining Unit: Non-Union

Pay Range: $20.60 – $23.69 per hour

Work Location: 20 Bay St. (Hybrid)

Contract up to 4 months starting in May 2025

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster, and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Chief of Payments Office is looking for a Co-Op Student to assist with communications, within the Payments Division, which oversees the PRESTO fare payment system. The Co-Op Student will focus on communication planning, event planning, presentation development, and work with internal stakeholders to provide analytical support in the completion of required tasks and deliverables. You will be reporting to the Manager, Communications and Engagement – Payments.

What will I be doing?

  • Supports the business policy, communications and strategy objectives, which may include preparing presentations, messaging, reports, and memos to support executives
  • Provides assistance and support to staff in a variety of areas, including gathering, inputting, organizing, and interpreting data for reports/presentations/meetings/projects
  • Updates internal Payments (PRESTO) intranet site (SharePoint site) on MyLinx
  • Maintains and updates electronic and hardcopy filing systems and provides record management services
  • Recommends improvements to existing processes and procedures to achieve greater efficiency
  • Performs assigned technical/professional/administrative duties
  • Prepares agendas, coordinates, attends, and takes minutes for meetings as required

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Must be attending school full-time and returning to an academic institution
  • Must be at least 15 years of age before starting employment
  • Enrolled in business administration, public administration, communications, political science, strategy or marketing at a post-secondary institution
  • Interest in payments is a strong asset
  • A willingness to learn while being exposed to all aspects of fare payments
