Responsibilities

The Coleman Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship primary responsibilities will be to provide strong research and curricular leadership for our entrepreneurship programs, including graduate degree programs (MBA, MS, and Doctorate in Business Administration) and undergraduate major and minor degree offerings, interface with the Coleman Center and its stakeholders, and cultivate and maintain effective relationships with internal advisory boards and Chicago’s thriving entrepreneurship ecosystem. Other responsibilities may include providing guidance to doctoral students pursuing research in the field of entrepreneurship.

The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship houses a diverse, multi-disciplinary and research-active faculty who support undergraduate and graduate programs in entrepreneurship, business analytics, human resource management, general management, supply chain management, and sustainability management. Management and Entrepreneurship faculty research has appeared in top-ranked journals, including Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Journal of Business Venturing, and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice. Both the graduate and undergraduate entrepreneurship programs were nationally ranked in the top-20 by The Princeton Review. The department is also home to the Coleman Center for Entrepreneurship, which received the 2023 Nasdaq Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence. A number of active student groups, including a chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization, are affiliated with the department.

DePaul University’s Driehaus College of Business is located in the heart of downtown Chicago’s vibrant urban business district. The college has built a strong relationship with the local business community, including over a dozen custom corporate MBA programs. The college also maintains strong affiliations with the Chicago start-up community and its incubators.

Required Qualifications

The Department of Management and Entrepreneurship at DePaul University’s Driehaus College of Business invites outstanding scholars to apply for the Coleman Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. We seek an internationally recognized scholar and proven educator to enhance the ranks of our faculty by bringing a strong and active research record along with the expertise and perspectives gained from a notable academic career. Applicants must have a doctorate in entrepreneurship or a related field.

The successful candidate must qualify for the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure and be a nationally recognized scholar in entrepreneurship. We welcome candidates at the associate level, and preference will be given to candidates who are qualified for the Full Professor title. Required qualifications include an outstanding record of publications in top entrepreneurship and management academic journals, evidence of teaching excellence, and notable service contributions. Candidates will also be expected to demonstrate the ability to work collegially and collaboratively within the academic and business communities.

The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the qualifications, education, experience, and training of the selected candidate, the scope and responsibilities of the position, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information.

About DePaul University’s Academic Calendar

Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).

Salary Information: The salary range for this 10-month position is $146,700 – $180,000 at the Associate Professor level and $172,500 – $240,000 at the full Professor level, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The role also includes a stipend of up to $40,000 to serve as the Coleman endowed chair.
