Unit “Cath Lab and EP

# suites/labs: 2 suites they use for Cath Lab, 1 for vascular

#cases per day on average: 22 total cases average between Cath Lab and EP (May start with 15 and take as many as 15 add on cases.

Required Certifications “RN: BLS, ACLS

Techs- RCIS, RT or RCE”

Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Right and left heart cath with or without intervention. Structural heart and vascular cases.TAVR, mitral clip etc.

Job Duties: RN and tech positions. Circulating, prep and recovery experience preferred. Techs to scrub and document.

Experience or ‘Must have’ skills: Minimum of 2 years experience. Needs to be experieced with sedation and Phase 1 recovery, ICU or PACU experience would be a plus. Prefer EPIC experience. Techs must also have experience in Cath lab and EP.

EMR/Equipment: EPIC

Cardiologist hours/on call: On Call when not in house

Manager/Charge Nurse: Yes, charge or lead nurse. Will also have a lead tech when staffing allows.

Cath Lab Techs

Shifts & Scheduling: 0600 – 1430 and call time.

Weeknight/Call Requirement: Call time starts after 1730. Average of 8 days a month.

Weekend/Call Requirement: 1 weekend per 4 week schedule. Friday saturday sunday.

Holiday/Call Requirement: Covered by call time.

Is there a mandatory call/standby requirement? Yes – see above.

What is call response time? 30 minutes.

Floating Requirements: May take a case over to the EP lab. All suites are in a combined unit. Focusing on a one team approach.

Scrub Color/Dress Code: Provided

Unit/Department specific orientation: 1 Week

Additional Notes: CNM: Ask about experience with prep and recovery. Will often work past normal end time in order to complete all cases. Needing a team player.

Additional Questions: Epic knowledge, Client imaging equipment.

Unit “Electrophysiology”

# suites/labs: 3 suites used for EP.

#cases per day on average: 22 total cases average between Cath Lab and EP (May start with 15 and take as many as 15 add on cases.

Required Certifications: RN: BLS, ACLS; Techs- RCIS, RT or RCE

Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Ablations, a fib, a flutter, very advanced EP lab.

Job Duties: Circulating, assisting, Core staff does the majority of the documentation.

Experience or ‘Must have’ skills: Minimum of 2 years experience. Needs to be experieced with sedation and Phase 1 recovery, ICU or PACU experience would be a plus. Prefer EPIC experience. Techs must also have experience in Cath lab and EP.

Cath Lab Techs

Shifts & Scheduling: 0600-1430 and no call. Will stay until end of day if cases are added on.

Weeknight/Call Requirement: No call.

Weekend/Call Requirement: Volunteer basis for emergencies or weekend cases. No call time.

Holiday/Call Requirement: Closed on holidays.

Is there a mandatory call/standby requirement? No call.

What is call response time? No

Floating Requirements: All suites are in a combined unit. Focusing on a one team approach. Would be expected to be a team player and assist where able. Not required to scrub in.

Unit/Department specific orientation: 1 Week

Additional Notes: Extreme backlog of cases due to covid. would give preference to candidates looking for extra hours. Trying to catch up. Teamwork mentality, putting the patient first – they don’t turn any cases down.
