Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

Responsibilities

  • Work in an entry-level position providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing and medical staff
  • Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs
  • Observe patients’ progress to prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurses or other medical staff
  • Obtain and record patients’ vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests
  • Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School or GED
  • Must have BLS certification within 30 days of hire or transfer into position

Preferred Job Requirements

  • 1 year experience in acute or long-term care
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Experience in Phlebotomy or completion of a Phlebotomy course
  • Working towards approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic (EMT-P) certification
