Job Description
- DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
- The Operating Room Staff Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse who is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of the patient while in the operating room or treatment room. This position has an on-call requirement with 30 minute response time.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional/Educational
- Current Illinois license with biennial renewal and required CEUs.
- Previous experience in operating room or related area preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of principles of asepsis.
- Certified by the American Heart Association in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
- Basic computer skills.
- DCFS Mandated Reporter Certificate of Completion required.
- Personal
- Maintains good physical and emotional well-being.
- Possesses personal qualities such as kindness, sympathy, understanding, respect, good judgement, integrity, loyalty, a sense of humor and an ability to relate effectively to patients, their families, and staff.
- Evidence of knowledge and ability to use proper channels of communication.
- Willingness to participate in call schedule and work irregular hours as necessary.
- Realizes that errors or incompetency may cause serious complications for patients and appreciates the importance of setting a good example for others.
