Reports To: EMS Manager/Supervisor
Salary: $19.34 – $27.28 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Summary
Responds to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured; responds to emergency and routine transfers between hospitals and nursing home.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responds to emergency and nonemergency calls within the primary service area.
Will provide security services as requested.
Utilizes the ambulance to arrive at the address or location given in a safe and efficient manner.
Radios the dispatcher for additional assistance or special rescue service if needed.
Complies with regulations on handling of the deceased, notifies authorities, and arranges for the protection of property and evidence at the scene.
Determines the nature and extent of illness or injury and prioritizes care.
Transports patients to the appropriate medical facility.
Identifies diagnostic signs and radios patient and/or special assistance information to the receiving medical facility as needed.
Observe, record, and report to the physician, the patient’s condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant events.
Monitor and maintain the general condition of the unit, keep it clean and stocked for optimal call response.
Informs supervisor of ambulance repairs and maintenance needed.
Supports the policies and procedures of the hospital and the standards of the Joint Commission as required for full accreditation.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Driving record in compliance with Welia Health policy regarding insurability.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver’s license. Current State of Minnesota Emergency Medical Technician Certification.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Required to carry patients up and down stairways with limited help. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Prolonged sitting in ambulance while on transfers. Required to perform duties in ambulance while ambulance is transporting. (Sense of balance is very important).
