Job Overview: Reporting to the CEO the Controller will manage, implement, and enhance financial accounting systems and other business processes. The Controller will ensure accurate and timely monthly and annual financial reporting, operational analytics, and other critical activities that support the successful management of company financial resources.

The Controller will be service-minded with a positive attitude and collaborative spirit and should bring strong relationship-building skills to Sustainment with an eagerness to be part of a team. The ideal candidate is resourceful and creative in solving problems and possesses the ability to see the larger objective, not just the task at hand. As a high growth company we are targeting a Controller that will anticipate future challenges, needs, and opportunities, is organized yet flexible and adaptable to change in a fast paced environment.

We are headquartered in Austin, TX and the ideal person must be located in Austin and willing to meet in office.

What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years of successful strategic accounting and finance experience, preferably in high growth startup organizations including full oversight of financial operations, audits, financial statement preparation, financial institution and investor reporting, tax planning, key financial processes and systems management
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Excellent skills and experience working with Excel, Word, and similar work efficiency products
  • Degree in accounting, business management, or CPA preferred
  • DoD and DCAA compliance experience preferred

How you will lead:

  • Oversee all aspects of reporting and accounting for the company
  • Identify, implement, and oversee the execution of financial processes, policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with US GAAP, tax laws, and DoD regulations
  • Maintain the general ledger and the company’s books and records
  • Organize and drive all closing and consolidation processes in a timely manner
  • Serve as a key interface with DCAA auditors
  • Oversee and direct activities for accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Manage tax matters, including coordination with external firms and all filings
  • Handle treasury matters, including cash flow analysis, disbursements, deposits, and bank coordination
  • Develop annual budgets and periodic operational forecasts for the business
  • Maintain and support a culture of compliance, ethics, and integrity
