Residential Direct Support Professional

Job Description

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Direct Support Professionals (DSP) assist individuals and families living in facilities homes. Individual programs are designed around the needs and desires of each participant and implemented with attention and care.

Responsibilities

The DSP will provide assistance, guidance, mentoring, coaching, and teaching in many life areas, such as activities of daily living, personal care, life skills, community integration, and transportation navigation.

The DSP will assist the supported person in enjoying the life that they want to live and increasing their quality of life by providing excellent services.

Provide direct support, interaction and supervision of the supported persons, inclusive of all daily needs (meals, personal care, transportation, leisure activities, community integration, medical needs and medication administration)

Required Qualifications

  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required (one year of college preferred)
  • 1+ years of experience working with the population served
  • Acceptable criminal background is a must
  • Must have CPR / First Aid, Mandt Systems, medication technician certification must be refreshed within timelines, and the certificate must have a current status.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • Current DDA Training
  • Must have no lifting restrictions. Ability to transfer individuals, talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Skills Required

Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively, individually and as part of a team with subordinates, other staff and supervisors throughout the organization

Good written and oral communication skills

Detail-oriented, organized, self-disciplined, energetic, and deadline-conscious.

Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to privileged and program participants’ information

Must be willing and able to support individuals with different levels of diagnoses

Schedule

Monday – Thursday 3P – 11P

Friday – Sunday 3P – 11P

Saturday – Sunday 7a – 11p
