Deloitte is currently looking for a team of Desktop Administrators to assist a client with an Upgrade project. This project will run for 9 to 10 months for now, and locations for various team members to be based, include Gauteng, Free State, Carltonville and Klerksdorp.
Valid drivers license is essential for the role
Responsibilities
Workstations Upgraded to Windows 11
- Assessment of Compatibility and Windows 11 Installation
- Evaluate current workstations for hardware compatibility with Windows 11, documenting any potential issues.
- Install Windows 11 on compatible devices, configuring necessary drivers, settings, and security policies.
- Validate that upgraded workstations are operating smoothly, running essential business applications, and connecting securely to the network.
- Post-Upgrade Testing and Verification
- Conduct functionality tests on upgraded workstations, including network access, software compatibility, and printer connectivity.
- Provide end users with a checklist to verify that their applications, files, and settings are correctly restored and functioning.
User Data Backed Up and Restored
- Comprehensive Data Backup Prior to Upgrade
- Identify critical data on each workstation, including documents, desktop files, application settings, and any locally stored email or files.
- Use an automated backup solution or manual methods to copy data to a secure location, such as a network drive or cloud storage, ensuring data availability throughout the project.
- Data Restoration Post-Upgrade
- Restore all user data to each workstation after the upgrade, verifying that files are intact and accessible.
- Support users in locating restored files and settings, helping them transition seamlessly to their upgraded workstations.
- Recommendations are needed on how to safely transfer user data, to comply with Harmony’s DLP guidelines.
Workstations Replaced and Configured
- Deployment and User Setup
- Install Windows 11, Office 365, and all necessary applications on these workstations, ensuring full functionality
- Deploy new workstations to end users, transferring their backed-up data and personalized settings as applicable.
- Offer guidance and support for any adjustments, ensuring that new devices meet users’ needs and preferences.
- Conduct final checks to ensure that each workstation is secure, up-to-date, and ready for daily use.
