Responsibilities

  • You will serve as the Assistant Deputy Director to lead, direct, and manage the Office of Investigations and Enforcement (OIE).
  • You will manage and direct the operational and program activities for OIE, including the investigation of complaints and the completion of inspections for the regulated professions and occupations underneath the Agency’s jurisdiction.
  • You will manage and direct the complaint intake and analysis process and monitor caseloads and aged cases.
  • You will develop and implement goals and objectives for the program, as well as implement policies and operational procedures.
  • You will be responsible for the flow of cases through the investigation and inspection process, ensuring consultation and collaboration with the Office of Disciplinary Counsel.
  • You will promote teamwork and a positive work environment, assess training needs, oversee recruitment and retention efforts, and review staff performance.
  • You will complete additional duties such as working with special projects and strategic planning teams, attending meetings, serving on tasks forces/workgroups, and providing work in support of the Agency’s mission.

Minimum And Additional Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree and relevant program experience. ( A combination of education, relevant training, and experience may be considered in substitution for the bachelor’s degree, upon approval by Human Resources .)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of agency’s organizational structure, as well as policies, procedures, rules, regulations and program services.
  • Knowledge of legal and disciplinary process.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret laws and regulations.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion.
  • Knowledge of management principles.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to manage employees.
  • Ability to foster an environment that focuses on continuous quality improvements and customer service.

Other Requirements

  • Position works in both an office, with extended periods of sitting and standing, and a field environment.
  • May require extended periods of driving and may require visiting private facilities that are non ADA compliant.
  • Must have a valid SC Driver’s License and provide a 10 year MVR that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines.
  • May need to bend, stoop, kneel and lift up to 25lbs.
  • May require work outside of normal Agency business hours and weekends.
  • Occasional local, statewide, and overnight travel.
  • Daily filing, data entry, telephone and computer use.
  • Position functions in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and standing but may also have periods of driving and visiting facilities that are non-ADA Compliant.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and 10 year MVR that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines.
  • May require work outside of normal Agency business hours.
  • Occasional weekend work and travel (local and overnight).
  • May be required to lift, carry, move and/or position objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Daily filing, data entry, telephone and computer use.
