This is an exciting opportunity for nurses who are passionate and enthusiastic about Neonatal care to join our team.

The Neonatal Unit at Frimley Park Hospital is a Local Neonatal Unit made up of 2 Intensive Care, 3 High Dependency and 11 Special Care cots. The unit cares for babies over 26+6 weeks gestation and stabilises any baby under that gestation, to be transferred to a tertiary hospital/ NICU.

We are in a position to be able to support an experienced neonatal nurse to undertake the QIS course in 2025.

Our team aspires to provide high quality and evidence based; clinical, developmental and family integrated care in order to ensure the best outcomes for our babies and their families.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide the highest quality care for babies and their families.
  • To assist the senior nursing staff in the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of paediatric care for an allocated group of patients from admission through to discharge or transfer.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Registered Nurse /Midwife/Child Branch/RSCN
  • Evidence of continuing education & professional development

Desirable criteria

  • Degree in Nursing or other relevant field or can demonstrate experience of working to this level
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Specialty qualification – Intensive Care of the Newborn or equivalent
  • Child Protection Training

Skills

Essential criteria

  • Able to prioritise and work in an organised way with excellent time management skills
  • Proven oral and written communication skills

Desirable criteria

  • IT Literate

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Some experience of working with families

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in a neonatal unit.
