Job Description:

The Quality Control Analyst is responsible for coordinating pre-funding and post-closing quality control testing for residential mortgage loans (Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA and state bond programs). The objective of the role is to assess the quality of mortgage loan production by evaluating whether loan transactions are underwritten and originated in accordance with lending policies and procedures and to verify presence of all required documents, and to report errors and risks identified. Acts as a point of reference and the first point of escalation regarding conformity of loans. Possesses universal experience of all agency, investor and program guidelines.

Job Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Coordinates the pre-funding quality control audit process by accessing and providing the daily loan report to approved third-party provider, as well as performing audit reviews of discretionary loan files internally.
  • Reviews results of pre-funding audits by third-party vendor, validating compliance with underwriting guidelines and procedures.
  • Documents and communicates the results of audits.
  • Monitors pre-funding quality findings and their resolution; recommends reasonable corrective action relative to quality assurance findings.
  • Provides monthly closed loan report to third-party provider by 5th of following month, from which post-closing audit sample may be selected.
  • Reviews/approves post-closing audit sample as appropriate.
  • Upon receipt of post-close audit result from third-party vendor, reviews each finding to either agree with, disagree with or rebut the finding. Evidence of mitigation shall be provided to third-party vendor.
  • Receives final monthly post-closing audit result from third party vendor; prepares management response for each finding; audits 10% of third-party vendor’s sample; provides final response to management and ownership.
  • Prepares reports related to review findings for management.
  • Maintains the retention of all pre-fund and post-closing audit results for company record-keeping.
  • Provides all audit results to investors/agencies as required for recertification or application.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with loan origination system program (e.g., Encompass).
  • Commits to effective time management as the role involves multitasking and dealing with a significant document load while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Consistently monitors agency and investor product and program updates.

  • Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to the requests from customers, other company personnel, etc., within given timeframes and within established policy.
  • Responsible for adherence to all internal policies, procedures and practices in support of program compliance, information security and overall safety and soundness in business practice.
  • Researches regulatory compliance issues. Provides detailed explanation of how regulation affects mortgage production and delivery. Solicits input from both external and internal subject matter experts to aid in producing a compliant product.
  • Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the unit as well as with other units/departments to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned or directed.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associates degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of current mortgage lending experience is required.
  • Experience with ACES quality control system a plus
  • Attention to detail is critical as are strong communication and organizational skills. Solid mathematical and analytical skills are also necessary.
