Aversan Inc. (www.aversan.com) is a reputable engineering company that provides expertise in the aerospace and defense industries. We are currently seeking a Project Engineer to provide technical support and oversight for the planning, development, execution, and commissioning of plant modifications at a CANDU nuclear facility.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that projects align with regulatory codes and standards, and they will work collaboratively with various teams to successfully bring projects from definition to execution. A strong understanding of nuclear power plant operations, including maintenance and operational components, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, asset reliability, process improvement, and cost reduction.
  • Provide instructions for operation, set-up, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
  • Support planning, prioritizing, and reviewing plans for engineering, maintenance, and work groups related to production and facility equipment.
  • Prepare and manage project schedules, budgets, proposals, and action plans, ensuring alignment with project milestones.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of control policies and procedures, making recommendations as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret all project-related documents (electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.) to accurately quantify controls and instrumentation scope items.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with Plant Operations, Plant Engineering, Maintenance, technical staff, and Regulators to ensure successful project execution.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports, specifications, work instructions, and planning documents.
  • Offer technical recommendations and resolutions to project-related issues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Foster positive working relationships through trust, respect, and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, Electrical, Control Systems, Civil/Structural).
  • Experience: 1-3 years of relevant experience (technical co-op or internships are acceptable).
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of codes and standards (e.g., CSA, ASME).
    • Experience with Engineering and Project Change Control Systems and methods.
    • Strong technical writing skills for specifications, work instructions, and reports.
  • Communication Skills:
    • Ability to clearly propose recommendations and resolutions to technical issues.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Licensing: Must be registered or eligible to obtain Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) status in Canada.
  • Other: ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, work under pressure, and maintain a high level of professionalism.
