Position Summary

Supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for providing a variety of senior citizen services and activities including frail elderly, inter-generational, meal services, adult fitness and volunteer program management; establish schedules and methods for providing assigned senior programs and services; ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures and perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in gerontology, sociology, recreation, business administration; and

Four (4) years of program management experience; and

To include two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Additional Requirements

Senior services grant-funded program management experience preferred.

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a valid City Operator’s Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

Possession of an appropriate valid C.P.R. Certificate within six (6) months from date of hire.

  • Operations, services and activities of a senior citizen services program
  • Operations, services and activities of a senior citizen services program, volunteer program
  • Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
  • Principles and practices of food preparation and meal distribution
  • Modern and complex principles and practices of senior citizen program development, administration and service implementation
  • Modern and complex principles and practices of senior citizen volunteer program development, administration and service implementation
  • Methods and techniques used to develop various programs for frail elderly citizens
  • Methods and techniques used to develop volunteer programs for frail elderly citizens
  • Theories of gerontology and their application to senior citizens
  • Modern and complex principles and practices of contract compliance
  • Principles and procedures of recruiting, training and monitoring the work of volunteer staff
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations
