Overview Of Role

Rothschild & Co seeks to hire an experienced Business and Strategy Analyst to support its Financial Sponsors Team located in London. The role will involve reporting to the Global Head of Financial Sponsors and play a key role in supporting the firm’s Financial Sponsors strategy and coverage, which involves leveraging internal and external market data and information to analyse market trends, assess the firm’s performance and inform long-term strategic projects. The ideal candidate will play a key role supporting the agenda to drive an important growth area for the business. The role will also involve interaction with the firms Executive Committee and senior members of the European advisory teams as well as working with other product and industry groups at the firm. Initially an EMEA and UK focused role. It is anticipated that the role may become global in nature over time.

Responsibilities

Financial Sponsors Coverage – Business and Strategy Analysis

  • Working with internal data and research analyst[s] to analyse data relating to Rothschild & Co’s coverage of financial sponsors, including Rothschild & Co’s client relationships, as well as a broader database of deal activity in our core sectors in order to analyse market activity, trends and competitor activity, across sectors and products.
  • Working independently, under direction from the Head of Financial Sponsors and other senior bankers, to conduct internal strategic projects: to gather and analyse information, formulate and test hypotheses, and develop and communicate recommendations effectively.
  • Support in analysing the performance of the group across a number of different metrics.
  • Serving as a bridge between data analysts and senior bankers in formulating, monitoring and developing the firm’s understanding of the market, its performance and identifying opportunities going forward.
  • Working with the internal data team to enhance reporting tools and management capabilities.
  • Preparing presentations for meetings on a variety of key Strategic topics with group heads and the Executive Committee.

Core skills required:

  • Three to five years of relevant experience in investment banking, consulting or corporate development experience is preferred.
  • Proactive, creative and resourceful. We are seeking a highly-efficient, organised candidate with a strong work ethic.
  • Highly numerate with good analytical ability and very high attention to detail and rigour in preparing and presenting documents.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, logical reasoning and creative thinking.
  • Strong analytical abilities and conceptual skills.
  • Ability to structure and organise problems, tasks, and information, and be able to act independently.
  • Ability to conceptualise, formulate and execute work product-focused materials and outputs, such as PowerPoint decks or other written deliverables for senior bankers and the Executive Committee.
  • Familiarity/understanding of financial markets, public and private securities.
  • High proficiency and excellence in utilising Microsoft suite (Excel, FactSet, Microsoft, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Exceptional communication skills; ability to articulate complex issues in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, yet comfortable working independently.
  • Enjoys working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management with the ability to engage with senior internal clients.
  • Ability to project manage tasks and collaborate with individuals and teams to meet reporting deadlines.
